The Last Call

The Last Call

What happens when your best friend graduates from a university in a different country? You attend, of course.

I always said I would save up to fly to Edinburgh to go to my best friend Naomi’s college graduation. As fate would have it, I am fortunately already in the U.K. so I hopped on a train down to Scotland this past Wednesday night. This was honestly a weekend for the books. While it mostly consisted of sitting around and watching reality TV, it felt so much like home. A completely stress-free weekend full of home-cooked meals, sightseeing and endless laughter. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend my time with my second family, regardless of the fact that I got hailed on (no, seriously, we were attacked by hail). Not to mention, I’m still not over how beautiful Edinburgh is ❤

The Beginning of Last Firsts

The Beginning of Last Firsts

Hello! It’s been a couple of weeks since I last posted, but that was due to a combination of not having much to discuss and also already being swamped with work at school. I started my last first day of college on August 24th and it was weird to think that would be my last beginning of the year. We’re only moving into the third week, but even that’s kind of unbelievable. Awesome, awesome things have been happening so far, however. I joined the writing staff for the university newspaper, Daily Trojan, as a columnist for the Lifestyle section and a blogger for “The DeeTs” section. I had my first article posted this past Tuesday followed by another article the next day (yes, those are links to my articles)! It was really exciting and from what my schedule looks like, it appears I will have a new article just about every week. 🙂 I am very ecstatic to take this on this semester and get better at the one thing I enjoy doing frequently. Week Nine: Sunshine

Week Nine: Sunshine

This week has been really interesting. I didn’t go anywhere and or do anything out of the box, but it was just a fantastic week in general. Not to mention, this weather this weekend was absolutely glorious. The sun was shining and it almost felt like 60 degrees, can you believe it?! I think the highlight of my week was the discussions we had in class. They weren’t long and honestly, not many participated (including myself), but they were incredibly thought-provoking which is probably why I couldn’t comprehend a solid response. We talked about morals, fidelity, and what constitutes a just war. These weren’t all in the same class, but I just thought it was cool to bring these things up because I think that it’s not necessarily taboo to discuss these sorts of topics, but it’s surely not the most common 11:00 a.m. conversation. Anyway, just thought I’d share that. Continue reading “Week Nine: Sunshine”
