A Return To Love

A Return To Love

It’s been one of those off weeks where nothing seems to make sense, but I’m happy to know I have some good times and great friends to fall back on. So here’s a bit of what I’ve been up to these past few weekends:

It Doesn’t Rain in Southern California

It Doesn’t Rain in Southern California

Ever since I got back to L.A., the weather has been so weird. It’s hard to believe that in the last two weeks, hot days have been a rarity like today. Believe it or not, it actually rained this week! It was brief and more sprinkling than raining, but water was actually falling from the sky, y’all. I have to say that though I’ve been looking forward to wearing summer clothes in the famous L.A. heat, I’ve appreciated the cooler weather that’s come with all of the overcast. (Mind you, cooler weather means the 70’s) Not to mention, the overcast of course makes me think of London. Speaking of London, another thing I can’t believe is that this past Wednesday, it marked a full month since we left. A huge reminder of that is the fact that my spending habits have hardly changed since I’ve been back *nervous laughter*, but it’s all been in efforts toward exploring L.A. I feel that if I can’t be where I truly want to be right now, the least I can do is make the most of where I am. Star Quality

Star Quality

Ever since I landed back in the states, my life has been moving non-stop. Whether it’s me having to visit people before I leave or seeing others before they leave, I have not had a full night’s rest since the last week of April. Not to mention, I was moving in basically all of last week and some of this week. Another event that took place this week was my first week at work. For those who don’t know, I’m interning for Turner Broadcasting System in the PR department for tbs and TNT. I was pretty terrified at first, not knowing what to expect, and I also have a two hour commute on my hands, but it looks like it’s going to be a great internship. It’s only been three days, but it has been an absolute whirlwind. Continue reading “Star Quality”

Week Sixteen: Leaving The Nest

Week Sixteen: Leaving The Nest

It’s been a whirlwind of a week with classes coming to an end and the transfer out of denial that my time abroad is coming to a close. As you can imagine, I’ve been running around trying to balance final papers while also enjoying what I can of London. I’ve also been sort of M.I.A. because I’ve been on a pretty wild emotional rollercoaster, but I’ve found a way to re-center myself and enjoy life from this point forward. This week, we had a lot of “lasts” with the program including our last play and our farewell dinner. We also went on a walking tour of Notting Hill with one of my professors as our last time together. Although we were saying goodbye, it just didn’t feel like goodbye. Not because we still have a whole week left, but I just feel that I’m never going to truly say goodbye to the professors and program advisers I’ve become so attached to. As I write this, I do feel incredibly emotional and tears are forming in my eyes, but it’s because I am so happy and fortunate to have had this experience. But let’s get to the details, shall we?
